work on my site is owned by me, About.com, and the New York Times Company.
According to the Fair Use Doctrine, you may excerpt a *brief portion* of
the work to share on your website, provided that you link it back to my
original URL, which you did indeed do. You also must provide credit by
name to the original author - in this case, me -- which is what I asked
you to add. I do not think that this is an unreasonable request. In
addition, reproducing the content in its entirety without permission is in
fact a violation of copyright law.
I am sorry you feel that my comment was "cluttering your blog". However,
you should be aware that I am forced to spend a significant amount of time
contacting people who have used my work without citing me as the author.
As such, I felt that it was perfectly appropriate to make note in the
comments section.

Noted and in the future if you wish to have your name sited on my blog entry along with a link back, I shall do so. As I said, I always sight my sources as well as link back to them. According to the terms of 'Fair Use' I am allowed limited use of copyrighted material without requiring permission from the rights holders.

I did link back, not to About.com but specifically to the exact page of the source, which is your article.
