The Witchlets are very very interested in my BOS lately. I think it's soon time to start writing in it again. They really want to add to it.

At the time of the Full Moon, take your Book of Shadows (one that
hasn't been written in yet) and some incense (pennyroyal, anise or rue) outside.

Under the light of the Full Moon, draw a pentagram on the first page and under this
write the following information: date, time, place, your magical name (and sigil if you have one),
the moon's phase and any other info you feel is important.


Hold the book up to the Moon and say:

"Here as the Full Moon shines upon me,
Bless this Book I've made tonight.
I humbly ask this of thee,
Underneath your most sacred light."

This is my Book of Shadows. There is a lot of history surrounding it and I have been putting off making a decision as to what to do with it.

Here's the story:
Jeff (my ex-husband) made this BOS for me when I first found the women who eventually formed the Coven with me. He worked long and hard to make this Book. It's made of wood, leather, crystals, amulets, animal bones and parchment paper. It is a beautiful Book.

When the Coven formed, this became our Book, hence the name on it 'Circle Of Enchantment'
We used the book for initiation and then added some things to it but the Coven became 'official' too late in the game - we broke apart shortly after initiation.

Obviously I kept the Book, there was no way I was going to allow any of the members to have it. I removed all of the pages that were written on by the Coven and burned them - as a release with no ill will. I set the Book out in the Moonlight under a Full Moon to cleanse it. I've passed it through incense and even used a smudge stick to rid any negativity.

It's been about 7 years since the Coven broke apart. This Book is completely empty inside. I have thought about packing it away and just having it as a momentum of that time of my life. I would never destroy it, sell it or give it away. Yet, I haven't been able to box it up. Something is drawing me to it.

I have been contemplating using it - as my own. I think it would be a wonderful heirloom to pass down from generation to generation. I would love to fill it with magick for my children - full of spells, chants, 'recipes', etc. I suppose I'm hung up on the fact that the front of the Book has the name of the Coven. I thought about asking Jeff to make a new cover and although there are no bad vibes/feelings between us, I'm afraid that may take some of the energy away from the Book - changing what it is.

I'm just not sure what to do. it is a part of me, a part of my past. It has been cleansed.

Thoughts? Advice?

This is my BOS (Book of Shadows) and I haven't written in it in a long time, since the Coven I was in broke up back in 2003, actually.
I took all the pages out that were written by Coven members and did a cleansing ritual for it. I didn't have the heart to get rid of it since it is hand made by Jeff. (yes, ex-husband but we are on good terms)
I swore I would keep up with it and add to it monthly, if possible. I want to be able to hand this Book down to my children, if they want it. I have not followed through on that promise I made to myself.
I figure, maybe blogging about it will motivate me. Maybe I'll give a preview, here in my blog, of the things I add to this BOS.

My ex husband made it for me, well made it for the Coven I was in a few years ago, *The Circle of Enchantment*

I am glad to have it in my possession. I am now using it for my own BOS. It has been cleansed and rededicate to me and my family.

It is made from wood, real leather and real animal bones. It holds much energy.

My 4 year old loves to be read to before bed. It's a sort of 30 minute event at night. Go potty, brush your teeth, pick an animal to sleep with, get comfy in bed, read a book.
Well, we have now added to this, an evening blessing.

I am proud to say, Olivia thought of this all on her own! I have added it to my BOS (Book of Shadows)
