Meditation for Kids

Posted in

If you have children, do they meditate? Olivia does once in a while - well, she tries to, but she still has a bit of a problem concentrating. She also loves doing yoga stretches, which is another way she relaxes. She has even asked me to get her yoga dvds for her birthday.

I came across the book "Sensational Meditation for Children - Child-friendly Meditation Techniques based on the Five Senses" by Sarah Wood Vallely. She also wrote a book called "The Magic Gum Tree - A Children's Fantasy Story about Meditation" Has anyone ever read either books? Would love opinions.

Meditating in the Morning

Posted in

I'd like to start meditating every morning. It used to be so random but lately I have been able to be more regular with it. Typically I like to meditate with music playing but when everyone is sleeping I always feel like I may wake someone up, so I got a nice pair of ipod nano headphones--problem solved!

Can't wait to start meditating outside in the early morning--right now it's still too cold out :(

Outdoor Meditation

Posted in ,

I love to meditate outside but I also love to meditate while listening to music. Usually I combine the two; I go outside and thanks to my nifty wireless outdoor speakers I can sit anywhere outside and hear my music.

However, with Spring so close, teasing me, I have been hearing birds chirping! I would much rather meditate to the sounds of Mother Nature ;) I am sooo looking forward to the nicer weather. I wonder if Old Man Winter is packing it in?

In the spring and summer, I like to meditate outside and the birds are enugh music for me :)

Inner beauty

I have realized something obvious. In order to look beautiful on the outside, you need to be beautiful on the inside.
Many ways to begin learning how to achieve this is through meditation. It is really important to take time for yourself. To focus on how YOU feel.
I wonder how many people make meditation a daily part of their lives? I used to and since I have had children, it's been a bit of a struggle to make time for it.

I plan on changing that!
