Outside Ritualing

Do you do any ritual work outside? I used to all the time when I lived elsewhere. When I was married to Jeff we had a huge backyard and this lovely pentacle:

I really miss that yard :-[ Where I live now is not so rural and we don't have much of a backyard. I thought about trying to dress up what we do have tough, maybe get some new patio furniture covers and try to make the outside look and feel magickal.

Do you ritual outside? If you do, what is your sacred space like?

I would love to do outdoor rituals but my where I live my neighbors are so close that I can't even walk out in the yard with out being stared at, hopefully by next spring we will have a privacy fence up and all of that will change.

Merry Meet!

That is how it is where we live now. We are in a 1/2 double and so my neighbors porch is connected, front and back :( We have a fence but it's a chain link fence...no privacy.

I don't really do rituals outdoors either :-( We live in a neighborhood with the nosiest neighbors you ever dreamed possible. I've tried a time or two, but it's very hard to relax and stay centered when 3 or 4 people decide to walk their dogs at midnight simply because they want to stare. *sigh*

so instead I make do with our bedroom window that is facing so that the full moon light shines in.

Wow - I would love to have something like that in my back yard! Unfortunately I live on the bottom floor of a home and have upstairs neighbours - so I can't wander around in the yard doing ritual. Sometimes I do drive up the road into the hills and spend some time with the moon or meditate. I also go to my parents yard and gardens for some Nature time. They don't mind if I light candles and wander around the back yard - they think I'm a bit odd anyway - lol!

We do outdoor sabbats when we can. After all, why be pagan if you cannot circle in the great out-of-doors? We go up to a Radical Faerie Beltaine, which is outside every year (who could have a maypole indoors? LOL)

And this Midsummer, we used a public park. We found one that was secluded in one of the regional parks that had a perfect grove. We'll def. be using that place again- I loved it there, surrounded by trees and wildflowers!

That said, most of our esbats and smaller rituals and workings take place in our temple, inside. We live in a city. :-P

What a beatiful circle. I have often thought of creating something similiar. To see yours makes me want to do it all the more.... I love spending time outdoors in the early spring or fall... when the weather is a bit cooler.... As time passes this has become much easier for me... Don't really care what the neighbors think anymore. :-P
