Blue Moon July 31, 2015

On Friday, 7-31-15, much of the world will have the opportunity to observe a Blue Moon: A somewhat rare occurrence that doesn't have anything to do with the moon's color.

A blue moon is full moon that occurs as the second full moon in a given month. The phrase "blue moon" comes from folklore and the phrase “once in a blue moon” — meaning something very rare — dates back to 1824.

This year we went back to Spoutwood Farm for the Faerie Festival and had a blast! I can't believe we've been going since at least 2008 - wow!

An asteroid the size of three football fields is set to make a close brush of Earth on Monday (Feb. 17), and you can watch the flyby in a live webcast.

Near-Earth asteroid 2000 EM26 poses no threat of actually hitting the planet, but the online Slooh Space Camera will track the asteroid as it passes by Earth on Monday. The live Slooh webcast will start at 9 p.m. EST (0200 Feb. 18 GMT), and you can also watch the webcast directly through the Slooh website.

You can also watch the asteroid broadcast live on Space.com. Scientists estimate that 2000 EM26 is about 885 feet (270 meters) in diameter, and it is whizzing through the solar system at a break-neck 27,000 mph (12.37km/s), according to Slooh. During its closest approach, the asteroid will fly about 8.8 lunar distances from Earth. [See photos of potentially dangerous asteroids]

So, I'm curious - what do think of Season 3 of American Horror Story? I loved Season 1 - it was suspenseful and spooky. Season 2 didn't hold my interest, I only got through a few episodes. This one, Season 3, I'm not sure about.

Basing my opinion purely o entertainment value, I'd say it looks entertaining. However, I don't know...once again it seems like we'll have to start all over again, defending and explaining real witches and witchcraft and how it 'really' is...

So over the course of the last few months I have been trying to manage life, work, and well, more life. I've suddenly become very poor at all of this. Too many things to do, not enough time, but one major priority is my family. We've been spending lots of time together, riding the motorcycle (me and CJ or CJ and Olivia) and spending time outside.

Olivia and I did manage to get the alter set for Mabon, that's when I realized I have a ton of Samhain stuff but not much Mabon stuff at all!

My birthday is tomorrow - I hope I get some "Witches Brew" candles, my absolute favorite fall scent!
